The take away is that Lunch is a creative production network, we work both together and separately to make integrated work. So yes, its easier to access the companies, but perhaps more importantly its the management of the communication, creative work flow, consultation and production value that sets Lunch apart. It's turn key, and it's independent. We're not a conglomerate of companies owned by one stakeholder, we're a group of people who want to create great work led by an EP who wants access to the right people. Yes, many of the companies are competitors, but we all agree that it's the work that's most important. We're collaborative. If two competitors will make the best team, then that's what we do.

Seems like a pretty nifty collection, but what's the take-away? Just easier access to a broader group of like-minded industry folks, despite what look like a few direct competitors in the mix?

@brett - Twitter is definitely a good option. Your post is what got us thinking about this. We decided to go the IM route for a couple reasons.

First off, with IM I only get notifications if I'm online. We weren't that interested in what happens ALL the time. The SVN client we use (Versions) tells us what commits we've missed when it starts up. Another neat thing about the IM approach is that I can decide to only 'follow' certain keywords. I don't have to be alerted about EVERY commit.

Lastly, this is a personal thing, I don't love the idea of having my Twitter feed jammed with a bunch of bot messages. No offence to any robots, rollbots or choicebots out there...
