The last few weeks have been torturous.  I’ve been hanging out at the mailbox every morning and checking my online tracking code repeatedly throughout the day, but alas no delivery came.  Until now…

What could be so important?  What could be more powerful than Facebook at reducing my productivity?  I’m glad you asked… my new MouseRug!  Bring the cozy comfort of your den to your office.  I have and there’s no turning back.  I decided to go with the Classic Nain from the Oriental Collection.  Here’s a photo of my new baby:

What?  You don’t think my rug quite fits your decor style?  You’re in luck!  The good folks at FiberLok have many collections and styles for you to choose from.  Maybe you’re mouse be more at home with a rug from the Native American Collection

I for one am happy (and so is my mouse).  To quote my good friend The Dude, this rug really ties the !@#%’n room together.

Obviously the answer is yes.  We all know that.

The only thing we don’t know as fine makers of web sites is when exactly we can safely stop supporting the stellar Internet Explorer 6 in the work we do (i.e. when it will piss off an acceptably low portion of the audience).  I don’t think Relish is quite there yet, but it looks like 37signals is as they’ve announced they’ll stop supporting IE6 in all their products in August.

We’re big fans of 37signals’ flagship product Basecamp.  We use it for just about every project we work on and a lot of our clients end up using it to review and discuss deliverables and timelines as we go. If Basecamp starts acting funky IE6 and forces a few more people to upgrade to a browser made in the last 5 years then I’m all for it. Hopefully it’s a sign that IE6-free days are closer than we think… trust me, every one who makes web sites is counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds.

SocialHistory.js is a nifty little bit of Javascript and CSS trickery that lets you have a tiny peek into what other sites your users are (or aren’t) visiting.  Don’t worry you privacy nuts… the browsing history you can gather through this method is VERY limited and the identity of the user is always going to be anonymous.  It just gives you a bit of insight into where your visitors have been lately.

Think of some of the possibilities –  Ford could check to see if you’ve recently visited the GM site and if you had they might put put a big ad saying “Don’t by a Ford – 5 reasons GMs are better!”.  How cool would that be? Talk about targeted messaging.
